Prince Edward County (PEC) is a 2 hour drive from Toronto and a 3 hour drive from Ottawa making it a great location for a weekend getaway. There is SO much that the county has to offer – it was a challenge to fit all my favourite activities into a weekend. If you are looking for more activities – visit Top Things to do in Prince Edward County for more ideas. Below you will find ideas of things to do in Prince Edward County through the perfect weekend getaway!

Where to Stay
There are so many different places to stay in PEC, but for a weekend getaway I would choose either:
- The Lakeside Motel. This Motel is gorgeous and overlooks Lake Ontario. It is the perfect place to say if you are wanting to be on the water and have access to a pool! The motel is conveniently located right in Wellington, so you are able to walk to restaurants, coffee, and shops. Check it out here!
- The Royal Hotel. This hotel is arguably the most aesthetically pleasing hotel I have ever stepped foot in. This is a great option if you love a good spa day or lobby lounge. Located right in the heart of Picton, you are able to walk to many shops and you have your pick of many restaurants (including one right in your hotel!). Take a look at the hotel here.
If both of these hotels are booked (which happens during peak months) or if you want to look at other options in the area, take a look at Booking.com!
Friday
12:00PM: Arrive in the County and start your weekend with a stroll around Picton. Check out some of the adorable stores like Luna Boutique and Zest Kitchen Shop (so many wonderful shops have opened over the past few years in Picton – I would highly suggest visiting them and shopping local!), grab a coffee and quick sandwich at Beacon Bike + Brew, and dessert at Slicker’s Ice cream (they have locations both in Picton and in Bloomfield).
3:00PM: Check out one of the many antique shops around the County, such as Dead People’s Stuff Antiques (I still can’t get over the name).
4:00PM: Head to one of the breweries around Picton such as Parsons Brewing Company, or Prince Eddy’s Brewing Co, or if breweries aren’t your thing, check out a cidery such as Crimson Cider Company!
6:00PM: Dinner at La Condensa. Here you can enjoy their delicious cocktails, tacos, and you can’t leave without trying their churros! If you’re not feeling Mexican cuisine, try out Koenji Whiskey Bar across the street.
9:30PM: Finish off your first night by going to a Barn Party at The Hayloft. One of the only options of things to do once the sun goes down in PEC. I would suggest taking a taxi to and from The Hayloft, however they do have shuttle services as well. Have a great time dancing the night away!! If going to a Barn Party isn’t quite your thing, you could head down to one of the three beaches in Sandbanks to watch the sunset, enjoy the amenities at your hotel, or grab a bottle of wine, put your feet up, and enjoy your favourite movie in your room.
Saturday
9:00AM: Start your Saturday morning off with a little exercise and attend the Detox Retox Yoga class at the June Motel. Book in advance!
10:00PM: Grab a coffee from Bloomfield Public House and walk around the adorable shops in Bloomfield. Or check out the Wellington Farmer’s Market that runs every Saturday from 8-1 (rain or shine!)
12:00PM: When you’re ready for lunch, I would suggest heading to Norman Hardie for some delicious wood style pizza and wine!
2:00PM: There are SO many amazing wineries, cideries, and breweries in the area – I would suggest spending the afternoon checking some of them out! You really can’t go wrong with trying out a few different places – you can check out my blog post here for more information on places to grab drinks in the area! You could also rent bikes, and do a biking wine tour – this is a popular activity in the County!
During your afternoon of drinking, stop off at a Lavender (Millefleurs or PEC lavender) or sunflower farm to check out the beautiful fields (depending on the time of year). Some of the farms have shops where you can buy soaps, cookbooks, etc. You could also check out SHED – an alpaca farm!
6:00PM: Head to Flame and Smith or Bocado for dinner – both are great options and would highly recommend!
9:00PM: If the place you are staying has amenities, relax and enjoy them. Perhaps get cozy around a bonfire, enjoy a nice cocktail from the bar, or head to bed nice and early! If you are a sunset gal like myself, watch the sunset from Slake Brewing!
Sunday
9:00AM: Head to The Drake Devonshire for brunch – one of my favourites! Enjoy the snazzy hotel decor, and enjoy your meal while looking over lake Ontario. They have a great patio to sit on if the weather is good. Reservation highly recommended for brunch! If you love a good lemonade, check out the adorable Lemons shop for
10:00AM: A weekend in the county isn’t complete without a trip to the beach! I would highly suggest checking out Sandbanks Provincial Park while you are in the area, as it’s a gorgeous, sandy (hence the name), clearwater beach. You need to plan ahead and get a day pass, and the beach will definitely fill up so I would recommend going early! Pack some snacks, drinks, and head to the sandy dunes for the day! On your wait out of Sandbanks, check out Lemons – the best way to beat the summer heat is with a delicious Lemonade!
